Tokyo Embassy Choir is Japan's leading ensemble of Japanese and expatriate choristers. It has a broad repertoire and a reputation that stands with some of the world's finest. From Bach to Broadway, its performances are in demand and the choir is proud to offer many of its concerts with free admission —- it asks instead for donations to charity. Some of the choir's senior members perform as Tokyo Chamber Singers , a select chorus of supreme skill. Music director Dr. Steven Morgan is a respected authority on sacred and secular music. He has led Tokyo Embassy Choir for nearly two decades, bringing authenticity, skill and panache to Japan's performing arts scene. Steven Morgan's musical career spans nearly five decades and includes conducting choral and instrumental ensembles in Illinois, Minnesota, British Columbia and Japan. Since coming to Tokyo in , he has taught both English and music classes at a number of universities in the greater Tokyo area. In , Dr.
About The Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo
Its members are all graduates from Japanese music conservatories and represent the highest level of choral music in Japan. As the basis for activities on a regular concert in Tokyo, the chorus holds about concerts annually in Japan, performs with Japanese and visiting orchestras and is frequently engaged in recordings for movie, radio, television and original CDs. Besides these activities, The Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo emphasizes the musical education of children, performs regularly at schools all over Japan and organizes music workshops for young people. The choir has also made several appearances overseas, beginning with a tour to the five ASEAN countries in , followed by a tour to the United States with concerts in seven cities in , and a tour to Europe due to an invitation by the IFCM International Federation of Choral Music in
This competition is held in order to contribute to culture through the popularization and promotion of choral music and to become a stage for international exchange. All participating choirs must be amateur. However, the conductor and accompanist is an exemption to this.
