Inside: Fear can be a bully but she is not my real enemy. The real enemy is my failure to acknowledge that I always get to choose my response. I woke up crying again last night. I dreamed that I was pregnant with my fourth child at the same time that I learned my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I would have to let her go — again. I sob and wake up hurting. This pervasive fear of what might lie around the next corner can keep me stuck and holding my breath if I am not vigilant. Life and death are both essential parts of this messy journey and to really live we must show up for all of it. Fear itself is simply a clue that something is wrong — an alert to danger or an indicator that we have some inner work to do. We can face fear, walk through fear, overcome fear, or heed fear at appropriate times.
Gurbaksh Chahal | In life, fear is your worst enemy. And, risk is your best friend.
It is the one that is the most adaptable to change. It entails leaving what we have in our steady routine to explore the unknown and unfamiliar. We are afraid to act on opportunity, because we are uncertain; we are blinded of the path ahead. Most of us would prefer the security of our already-proven static routines. They bring us financial support, and keep our families situated. We would rather stay with what we know, than risk that for something that may seem like just a dream. But as kids, we were taught differently.

Hello Monday … we meet again. This marks the beginning of a new series on this blog. To kick-start the week, I will be sharing a thought of the day on Mondays aimed to energize, motivate and help spur us on to success. When you think of the things that hold you back, what do they look like? Other people? Q: What is it about each of those things that keeps you from moving forward? Is it fear?
It cripples you with that treacherous feeling in the pit of your stomach. It comes out of no where and stops you in your tracks. You wonder why you're not moving forward. You make excuses while refusing to acknowledge what's stopping you.
