So unfortunately for those of my friends who know that Dance in the Vampire Bund is awful, I still had to watch this show to determine just how bad it is. My girlfriend has only seen the nude child photos in the manga and, based on that small encounter, knows it was bad. If only I was as smart… Alas, I still watched this short 12 episode anime to see what all the fuss was about and, as usual, Christopher Sabat, credited as C.

This page lists the characters that appear in the Dance in the Vampire Bund manga and anime series created by Nozomu Tamaki. Vampires can be both born or created from humans. In the former case, 'True Blooded' vampires descended from a progenitor paternal figure continue through the female line, currently represented by Mina. In the latter case, vampirism appears to have an infectious aetiology, possibly a form of retrovirus. Unlike many vampire stories, transformation into a vampire is not a conscious decision but rather is caused by a vampire feeding off of a human. In recent years a "vaccine" has been developed to prevent transformation, but is only effective for up to 48 hours from the time of infection. In all cases a human turned into a vampire who is not cured with the vaccine has a genetically coded mandate to unilaterally and unconditionally obey the person who turned them into vampires. While vampires can be "reprogrammed" using different DNA to allow them to switch allegiances they retain this mandate for absolute obedience, which leaves them entirely at the mercy of the vampire they are currently programmed to obey.

Mina's child form is in a prepubescent stage due to awakening her vampire powers early; her growth was slowed for several centuries. She has crimson eyes, fangs, and blond hair. At certain times, her long hair hangs down like when she was sleeping in Akira 's room, in the train station, or when she is not dressed in Gothic Lolita except in her long-sleeved night gown. In the third series, Mina wears more modern and casual clothes, often sleeveless tops and shorts for good mobility. While facially she changes very little, her body becomes that of a mature and voluptuous woman who is usually seen nude, with an ebony substance covering half of her body and black wings as well. Her adult form has long blond hair that goes past her shoulders. Though she can appear to be cold and harsh when dealing with others, Mina cares very much about the Bund. She is also really strong willed, refusing to back down even when her life is at stake, and will not hesitate to resort to blackmail, violence, extortion or any other illicit tactics to ensure the safety of the Bund and the preservation of the vampire species.
They are an all-male group of highly-evolved wolves that have served the Tepes family for generations, acting as its bodyguards and military force. They work in teams of two, referred to as "intwined branches"; teamwork is essential for Beowulf operatives. At the age of 13 Beowulf trainees are dropped off at a random location in groups of four to survive a month without any supplies or clothes. This rite of passage is to forge bonds of cooperation between them. Yuki has noted the members of the Earth Clan are perfect gentlemen to women. Tatiana guesses it comes from their inherit nature as protectors and as a way to find a mate. Some vampire nobles like Lord Dermais look down on the Earth Clan, often tossing racial slurs at them. Superhuman Strength : They have great strength to the point that they are capable of demolishing tanks with their bare hands even to the point of lifting it and throwing it and able to crack concrete. Werewolves are stronger than vampires. In the anime, Akira manage to easily best Mina in her transformed state.
